Sagkeeng First Nation had approached us last year and wanted a sculpture created to honour the Missing & Murdered Indigenous women of their area. The project completion should be by the end of October this year! A lot to look forward to in the coming months! Below is a progress shot of the plasticine application on the wire and steel skeleton. Each family who had been affected by these unfortunate events had a huge role in the design process. Each section has a bit f their missing loved ones on it, whether it's a pattern, having beadwork on the sculpture, adding a feathers or cloth etc. It was a very nice way for the families to be a part of this project and to honour their loved one's. This sculpture will placed in Sakgeeng determined by the Band Council and the families. Everything done throughout this process is done with immense respect and care due to the sensitivity of the subject.
